Where to stay

For first-timers, Hvar Town is the easiest base: walkable, lively, and close to boat departures for the Pakleni Islands. If you prefer quiet and views, consider gentle hillside villas a few minutes drive away. For a postcard feel and swimming platforms, visit the Pakleni Islands by day.

We manage a hand-picked set of homes with instant availability. See the collection: Hvar villas.

Think sun-washed streets, the scent of lavender on the breeze, and slow dinners under the stars. That's Hvar at its best — easy days, postcard views, and time well spent.

Best time to visit

  • June & September: warm water, easier bookings, great balance.
  • July–early August: peak season, most buzz — book ahead.
  • May & October: calm and mild for hiking, cycling, and town exploring.

Getting here

The usual route is via Split. Take the catamaran to Hvar Town (about 1h) if you're on foot. If you're bringing a car, use the ferry to Stari Grad (about 2h), then drive 15 minutes to Hvar Town. For a smooth arrival, we can arrange private boat taxis, porters, and transfers.

Getting around

In Hvar Town you won't need a car; the center is car-free and everything is close. To explore the south shore, vineyards, or remote coves, rent a car/scooter for a day. Many big highlights — Pakleni Islands and Blue Cave — are by boat.

Best beaches near Hvar Town

  • Dubovica: iconic pebble cove with clear water.
  • Pokonji Dol: easy access, sunbeds & lunch options.
  • Mekićevica: quieter walk-in bay with turquoise water.
  • Bonj: elegant bathing platforms by town.
  • Jagodna & Sveta Nedjelja: south-shore drama and deep blue.

Pakleni Islands

A short boat ride from Hvar Town reveals a chain of pine-scented islets with coves, beach clubs, and lazy-lunch spots. Go by taxi-boat, rent a small boat, or book a private tour to pick your pace and stops.

Things to do

  • Climb to Fortica for the best town and islands view.
  • Blue Cave & Vis day trip — best balance in June/September; expect longer lines in July–August.
  • South-shore cruise: red rocks, coves, and wine.
  • Wine tasting, olive oil tasting, sunset boat, or off-road inland.

Food & drink

Hvar's kitchen is simple and seasonal: grilled fish, olive oil, capers, and local wine varieties like Plavac Mali and Bogdanuša. Ask us for reservations — we'll point you to the right spot for your mood.

A simple 3-day plan

  1. Day 1: Hvar Town, Fortica at sunset, dinner by the harbor.
  2. Day 2: Pakleni Islands swim day; long lunch, evening cocktails back in town.
  3. Day 3: South-shore cruise with wine tastings; late swim at Dubovica.
