Hvar has become an essential part of my soul
Hello everyone, my name is Sanja, and I am the founder of Hvar House — the local team behind the houses we look after. To help you get to know me better right away, I'd like to share a personal, heartfelt story.
Once upon a time, like many of you, I was just a tourist on Hvar. However, I came once and ended up staying forever. My very first visit to Hvar in 2008. was marked by love at first sight. That initial trip turned out to be a pivotal moment, forging a whole new destiny. Before I set foot on this charming island, I had a completely different path mapped out for myself.
With a law degree, I had planned to establish a attorney's office and focus on my career in a bustling city of millions. But I listened to my heart, and it led me straight to Hvar. This magnificent, sun-kissed town became an essential part of my soul. I have wholeheartedly embraced its unique charm, vibrant life, and warm, welcoming community.
Today, I am happily married, a mother to two wonderful daughters, and for over 10 years I've been deeply involved in the world of tourism. Living in Hvar Town over time, I've come to know every corner of the island, made countless new contacts, and forged great friendships. Thanks to my husband, who was born and raised here, I quickly felt at home and accepted in this new community. I understand both perspectives—what it's like to be a tourist here and what it means to be a good host on Hvar.
The idea for Hvar House was born out of my deep love for tourism, passion for management, and desire to show others the many wonders of the sunniest island in the Mediterranean. That's why the Hvar House team includes not only cleaning staff, gardeners, taxi drivers, and boat owners, but also, indirectly, all of our friends—the owners of local restaurants, bars, and attractions in Hvar.
I will gladly open every door for you so that you feel more than welcome here. We make good memories tailored to your wishes. Perhaps you won't stay here "for the rest of your life" like I did, but I'm sure you'll return to Hvar at least once more—whether for another adventure, another visit, one more beautiful memory.
